Job description

Position Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Data Governance, guides the organization to ensure CAQH operates within a robust data governance framework, applying appropriate data management practices to deliver reliable, high-quality data across all CAQH solutions. This includes defining, classifying, and cataloging all data elements and associated metadata; data profiling and remediation; documenting and tracking data mapping, lineage, and workflows; developing and maintaining data quality rules based on business requirements; defining and monitoring application of business rules for data use; and the definition and documentation of data processes, policies, and procedures.

 

The Sr. Manager, Data Governance engages in all organizational activities providing oversight for data governance and advises on data management best practices. The Senior Manager works with counterparts across all areas of the company; technology and development to define governance requirements and collaborate on appropriate data solutions, data architects advocating for business objectives when building or updating the enterprise data model/architecture, marketing to help position CAQH data capabilities for target customers, and business development team to identify and expand opportunities for data governance within our offerings.

 

The Sr. Manager, Data Governance reports to the Senior Vice President, Data and Analytics. This is a full-time, exempt, remote position.

Base Salary Range: $160,000 - $180,000.


Specific Responsibilities:

Strategy and Implementation – Serve as the strategic lead/owner for data governance capabilities across the organization; work with cross-functional teams to evaluate and define data governance requirements in the CAQH core technology infrastructure and processes that drive the offering of superior data services and solutions.

 

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive data governance program and integrate it into organizational processes from strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Define and lead governance initiatives, identify organizational challenges, develop business cases, and design conceptual solutions for existing and new CAQH data management practices.
  • Collaborate with department heads in the development of data governance policies and procedures 
  • Evangelize data governance concepts internally and externally to obtain buy-in and drive industry best practices.
  • Coordinate across matrix resources to execute governance reviews, changes, and implementations.
  • Utilize data governance tools and methodologies to support CAQH data management initiatives.
  • Drive the development, implementation, growth, maturity, and evolution of data governance practices.
  • Measure and report the actual results of the governance strategy to its plan.

Organizational Alignment – Work with the leadership team to develop and implement a company-wide data governance plan, working with all departments to execute.

Stakeholder Enablement – Support various teams by assisting with the development of repeatable data governance processes, including governance materials and tools, conducting training, identifying new governance needs, and advising on short and long-term data management strategies.

Thought Leadership – Promote leading healthcare industry and organizational thinking in data governance, cultivate innovative ideas, foster innovation, provide subject matter expertise across settings. Lead data governance workgroups and industry through leadership sessions. Represent CAQH in industry presentations via webinars and onsite presentations to both small and large audiences.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and coach team members. Opportunities for direct report relationships exist in this role.

  • Ability to define and lead governance discovery and definition activities, develop business cases, and design conceptual solutions.
  • Ability to document business, market or governance requirements and create functional design specifications.
  • Ability to create written, graphic, and summary documents and presentations for internal and external use in communicating governance goals and objectives.
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate business needs that inform how data should collected, managed, stored, and used and the business impacts that happen because of changes in data or because of not addressing data issues
  • In depth knowledge of data management and governance best practices, data modeling, and database/data warehousing concepts
  • Deep expertise for CAQH data domains (provider groups, practitioners, payers, members, etc.)

Experience:

  • 10+ years in data management, governance at enterprise level.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing and/or managing data management, data quality, data catalog, data lineage, and/or data governance applications.
  • 7+ years in data governance / data management (preferably with a combination of experience and/or technology focus).
  • 4+ years managing implementation of data governance programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare operations preferred.
  • Team-leadership (matrixed) experience required. 
  • People-leadership experience preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Degrees in healthcare administration, public health, or technology disciplines preferred.
