DecisiveInstincts, LLC has an immediate opportunity for a Systems Engineer SME requiring a Top Secret clearance and the ability to work remotely. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of efficient LAN/WAN networks using TCP/IP principles, including hardware management, security administration, and troubleshooting. You will evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance network performance and cost-effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities
Apply Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) routing and switching principles to practical solutions
Perform multi-level troubleshooting and root-cause problem solving
Configure, maintain, and upgrade LAN/WAN design and topology
Install/configure LAN/WAN hardware and maintain wiring closets and nomenclature
Manage Cisco and other hardware, including consumer-grade routers and switches
Monitor with standard network management and packet analysis tools
Plan, implement, and administer perimeter security and firewalling
Evaluate new technologies and make design recommendations for a more efficient and cost-effective network infrastructure
Basic Qualifications
2–5 years of experience with firewall configuration and load balancing
Understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, and other common protocols
Expert knowledge of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
Proficient in all aspects of Virtual Private Network (VPN) design and configurations
Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and troubleshooting connectivity issues
Expert-level troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving
Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, Extreme Programming (XP), Kanban, and SAFe
