Job description

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Director of Veteran Affairs to lead initiatives focused on supporting veterans and their families. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing programs that enhance the quality of life for veterans while advocating for their needs at local, state, and national levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive veteran affairs programs and strategies.
  • Advocate for veterans' needs with government agencies, stakeholders, and community organizations.
  • Build partnerships with military, veteran, and community organizations to enhance services.
  • Lead a team of professionals focused on delivering impactful veteran support services.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to achieve strategic goals.
  • Manage budgets and resources to meet the operational needs of veteran affairs programs.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on veteran issues to senior leadership.
  • Stay informed on legislation and policies affecting veterans and ensure the organization’s compliance and advocacy efforts reflect these changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Social Work, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in veteran affairs, advocacy, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of veteran benefits, resources, and the challenges faced by veterans.
  • Exceptional advocacy and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficient in project management and budgeting.
  • Passion for serving and advocating for veterans and their families.

  • Comprehensive compensation package with base salary of between $160,000 to $210,000 depending on experience.
