Position overview:

The Executive Director, Business Development will be responsible for selling ICON's full-service services globally within our Pharma Solutions Division. This includes interacting with existing and new clients during and after implementation as a commercial account leader and point of contact alongside our project teams, thereby ensuring client satisfaction and identifying opportunities to expand our deployment footprint where appropriate.

The Executive Director, Business Development will take ownership of their client relationships by developing knowledge of the client's business objectives, goals, markets and needs in order to deliver appropriate solutions, this may include identifying areas of our solution that need to be enhanced to meet individual client needs. This role will have a balance of working with our existing accounts in well-developed and supported partnerships as well as identifying and securing new business for our full-service solutions in less developed accounts.

Duties Include:

  • Liaise with service line, sales strategy and sales leadership to leverage offerings and develop innovative approaches to new business in the strategic account and relationship portfolio.
  • Owns and manages a number of designated global accounts
  • Commercial face of ICON to the customer
  • Coordinates activities and selling efforts of all assigned service lines
  • Plans & implements the global commercial strategy for the account
  • Decides when/if it is appropriate for individual service lines to become involved in the account
  • Identifies opportunities for disruptive growth in the accounts
  • Owns the global roll-up sales target from all service lines under the remit
  • Collaborates closely with the individual service line Presidents within ICON, together with the Business Development leadership
  • Travel globally as required

Your profile:

  • Education/BS degree in Life-Sciences or equivalent (MBA preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years sales experience in the CRO industry, with a demonstrable track record within global accounts
  • Experience in selling a wide range of service lines
  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to work independently and in a multi-functional team environment
  • Highest levels of interpersonal and social skills to permit interaction with executive management, within and without ICON
