Job Description:

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Technical Sales Manager.  Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, this high-energy, self-motivated individual will be responsible for creating specifications for our electrical family of products, under the Wheatland and Western brands for key architects, design engineers and electrical contractors. The Technical Sales Manager will be an advocate for steel conduit as the product of choice over other competing wiring methods.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote Zekelman-brand steel conduit and specialty products to key clients that drive specifications.
  • Ensure Zekelman products are specified or preferred on major commercial construction projects.
  • Monitor national and local building codes and develop relationships with code-making officials to assure our products remain the product of choice.
  • Develop lasting relationships with key clients, focusing on solidifying product acceptance and\or specifications during the planning and design stage.
  • Promote portfolio of products and services during contractor / engineer luncheons, tradeshows, and seminars.
  • Work closely with electrical contractors to demonstrate product benefits and train electricians on proper installation techniques.
  • Actively participate in key industry associations, including national and local events and trade shows (National Electrical Code Educational Conferences, etc.)
  • Work closely with electrical contractors to address and resolve field claims.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on competitive technical activity and products, including promotional programs and fire code issues.
  • Assist with product knowledge training for sales agencies.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team in market research for new product development projects and product promotions.
  • Drive specifications across the design community
  • Solicit, generate and communicate new product concepts to the product development team.
  • Cultivate electrical contractor and design engineer relationships.
  • Support goals, objectives, and initiatives of Sales/Marketing Team Members

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate for the Technical Sales Manager will have ten years of previous experience working with Architects, Engineers and Contractors in the Electrical Industry.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking, and strong listening skills.
  • Must thrive in daily work/social interactions.
  • Ability to understand application issues and challenges and convert to opportunities.
  • Ability to travel within the US frequently (up to 75%)
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs (product samples and presentation equipment.

The compensation range for this role is between 120k and 145k
