Job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Report Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining reports and dashboards that deliver actionable business insights. The Report Developer will work closely with business analysts, stakeholders, and IT teams to gather reporting requirements, create accurate and visually appealing reports, and ensure data accuracy and consistency across various platforms.

  • Up to 10 Leave credits to be earned from the start date with an accrual rate of 0.833 per month

    Up to 20 Leave Credits to be earned from the hiring anniversary (and every year thereafter) with an accrual rate of 1.67 per month

  • Key Responsibilities:

    • Report Development & Design:
      • Design and develop reports and dashboards using tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting platforms.
      • Create, test, and deploy customized reports based on business needs and data analysis.
      • Work with business users to understand requirements and develop solutions that meet their reporting needs.
      • Create reports that are user-friendly, visually appealing, and provide insights into key business metrics.
    • Data Integration & Querying:
      • Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources into reporting systems.
      • Integrate data from different databases, data warehouses, and external sources to ensure comprehensive reporting.
      • Ensure that the data presented in reports is accurate, timely, and meets the needs of stakeholders.
    • Collaboration & Requirements Gathering:
      • Collaborate with business analysts, department heads, and other stakeholders to identify report requirements and deliverables.
      • Participate in meetings to clarify data needs, expectations, and to gather functional specifications for reports.
      • Develop an understanding of business processes to ensure reports align with organizational goals and provide actionable insights.
    • Testing & Quality Assurance:
      • Perform data validation, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure reports are accurate and meet specified requirements.
      • Conduct performance tuning of reports to optimize data retrieval times and system performance.
      • Review and verify data integrity to ensure consistency and accuracy in reports.
    • Maintenance & Support:
      • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for existing reports, including troubleshooting errors, implementing improvements, and updating reports as business requirements evolve.
      • Monitor report performance and implement necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and accuracy.
      • Ensure reports and dashboards are up to date with the latest business data and align with evolving requirements.
    • Documentation & Training:
      • Document report specifications, design processes, and maintenance procedures for future reference.
      • Provide end-user training and support on how to use reports and dashboards effectively.
      • Create user-friendly documentation for reports, dashboards, and data sources to ensure clarity and ease of use for non-technical users.
    • Continuous Improvement:
      • Stay current with emerging reporting technologies and trends, and evaluate new tools and techniques that could improve reporting efficiency and effectiveness.
      • Recommend improvements to existing reporting processes and data management systems to enhance business intelligence capabilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience (X+ years) as a Report Developer, Business Intelligence Developer, or Data Analyst, with a strong focus on report development and data analysis.
    • Extensive experience with report generation tools such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, Tableau, Crystal Reports, or similar.
    • Proficiency in SQL for querying and working with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, etc.).
    • Experience in ETL processes and working with large datasets.
    • Experience with data visualization and creating actionable, visually compelling dashboards.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong SQL skills and ability to write complex queries for data extraction and manipulation.
    • Experience with report and dashboard development tools (e.g., SSRS, Power BI, Tableau).
    • Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL).
    • Knowledge of data modeling and report design best practices.
    • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and best practices.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders and technical teams.
    • Ability to translate business requirements into clear reporting solutions.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-based reporting tools (e.g., Google Data Studio, Amazon QuickSight).
  • Familiarity with data governance and security best practices for report development.
  • Experience with report scheduling, automation, and distribution.
  • Knowledge of performance tuning techniques for large-scale reports and databases.
  • Experience with data integration platforms and ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS).
  • Familiarity with scripting languages like Python or R for advanced data analysis and reporting
