Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Australian bookkeeping, proficiency in various accounting software, and prior experience in public practice. This role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple task efficiently.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform end-to-end bookkeeping duties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards.
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, and payroll tax returns.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Process payroll, superannuation contributions, and employee entitlements.
  • Reconcile financial data with source documents, bank statements, and supplier statements.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Assist accountants with tax return preparation for individuals, partnerships, and companies. 

Qualification and experience:

  • Three to five years of Australian Bookkeeping experience in a public practice setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting principle and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, and Xero Practice Manager (XPM).
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification and bookkeeping or accounting. (e.g., Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Diploma in Accounting) is an advantage.
  • Experience working with Australian clients or within an Australian accounting firm.
