Position Overview
The Director of Business Development, Renewables Technical Advisory, will be responsible for driving the global sales strategy and execution for technical advisory services within the renewable energy sector. This senior leadership role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in the renewables industry, a proven track record of sales leadership, and the ability to foster relationships with key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have experience working with renewable energy developers, utilities, financial institutions, and other key players in the renewable energy value chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Global Sales Strategy Development & Execution: Lead the NAM and global sales strategy for technical advisory services, ensuring alignment with business objectives and market demands.
- Revenue Growth & Target Achievement: Oversee global sales performance, ensuring the achievement of revenue targets, sales growth, and profitability.
- Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with high-level clients. Identify and pursue new business opportunities and foster cross-selling across the organization’s services portfolio.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performance global sales team.
- Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in renewable energy to inform sales strategy.
- Collaboration with Technical Teams: Work closely with the technical advisory teams to ensure that client needs are accurately translated into service offerings and deliverables.
- Proposal Development & Contract Negotiation: Lead the preparation of large & complex technical proposals, presentations, and RFP responses. Oversee the negotiation and closing of major contracts and partnerships.
- Customer Feedback & Continuous Improvement: Collect and analyze customer feedback to continuously improve the company’s service offerings and enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in renewable energy sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership position focused on renewable energy technical advisory services.
- Deep knowledge of the renewable energy sector.
- Demonstrated success in driving renewables technical advisory sales and revenue growth.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in building and managing high-performing global teams.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build and nurture senior-level clients and manage high-stakes negotiations.
- Deep understanding of the regulatory, technical, and financial aspects of renewables projects.
- Strong business acumen, with experience in managing P&L, budgeting, and sales forecasting.
