Head of Business Development (England).
Salary: c£70,000 per annum.
Location: Remote; with travel across the UK.
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week.

A bit about the role
Reporting to the UK Director of Business Development, you will be strategically responsible for winning new business and retaining existing services through engaging in business development activities, involving, and engaging key stakeholders at Government and local strategic levels to develop high value business opportunities. You will also lead and manage a professional business development team to win and retain business. This is an England wide role.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
- Continued development and understanding of Action for Children services and external environment (including commissioner requirements).
- Lead a team of Business Development professionals to achieve challenging targets that involve winning and retaining business through business development activities including tendering, bidding, and account management.
- Win and retain existing business and improving win rate in tendering activity of the organisation across England.
- Advise the Director of Business Development on the risks associated with bids and for the risk assessment bidding processes.
- Manage key accounts or business specific leads, and to lead on country wide business development.
- Achieve the agreed financial target for existing (retention)and new business and responsible for achieving a specified success for tenders/bids as agreed.
- Managing the business development budget, including forecasting and the management of the staffing resource.

- Experience of bid management, strategic Business Development work and demonstrable track record of winning bids.
- Providing managerial and professional direction to develop bids to win new business.
- Experience of managing complex data and intelligence to identify priorities, create a compelling narrative.
- Experience of managing, leading and motivating a professional team to deliver on challenging targets.
- Lead and manage business cases to enable the development of products and services.
- Managing and developing a pipeline of opportunities.
- Effective communication skills, to produce reports, internal and external comms and team management.
- Detailed and practical knowledge of principles of commissioning, tendering and how to support this. Experience of Children’s Services, delivery, commissioning and service design.
- Develop innovatively written bids in line with funders / commissioners published guidelines.
