CorVel is seeking a full time Subrogation Specialist to work in our Subrogation department. The Subrogation Specialist manages within company standards and best practices, handling recovery for Workers Compensation and Auto damage.
General tasks include: Identifying subrogation potential based on facts of loss, working closely with Work Comp Claims Adjusters or Liability adjuster (property/auto), sending lien notice letters, negotiating settlements with injury attorneys, communicating with clients’ risk managers.
This is a remote position.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Reviews subrogation potential
- Contacts liability insurance carriers or Third party attorneys
- Identifies at fault parties and sends notice of recovery rights via letters/emails
- Maintains diary to follow up on claims status and Third Party settlements
- Negotiates recovery of clients’ damages
- Communicate claim status with customer and claimant
- Adhere to client guidelines & participate in claim reviews as needed
- Develops & maintains professional customer relationships
- Manage a queue of claims with a 250-300 claim volume
- Assist management in filing Inter-company Arbitration
Knowledge & Skills
- Experience in workers comp subrogation or auto damage subrogation preferred. Experience in PIP/Med Pay subrogation will also be considered.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Effective analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment, but also work independently
- Ability to negotiate settlement over the phone
- Research, analyze, and interpret nationwide subrogation laws
Education
- Four-year degree at an accredited college or university preferred
Pay Range
CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.
For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. The level may impact the salary range and these adjustments would be clarified during the offer process.
Pay Range: $18.36 - $29.63 per hour
