Rescue is a full-service marketing agency with a mission to make healthy behaviors easier and more appealing. Since our founding in 2001, Rescue has been exclusively focused on researching, developing, and implementing positive social change campaigns in public health. We provide research, strategy, creative, production, web, traditional media, social media, policy change, youth engagement and experiential marketing services to government, non-profit, and healthcare clients in over 35 states and provinces, as well as to federal government agencies.
Rescue’s health behavior change marketing campaigns focus on topics such as tobacco, obesity, substance and alcohol prevention; the promotion of exercise, eating healthy foods, early childhood development, and after school programs; and other topics that promote healthy living. Rescue’s behavior change campaigns focus on diverse populations within teen (13 - 17), young adult (18 - 26), and adult (18+) populations in both rural and urban areas, resulting in a wide variety of campaign styles and strategies.

The Job
We are looking for a dynamic, high performing Account Director with experience in managing growing agency revenue, producing great work, and ensuring the success of the client’s campaigns. The ideal candidate has a passion for behavior change, a history of effectively managing agency resources, and establishing healthy client relationships with the whole agency.
Day-To-Day Activities:
Budget Management/Growth
- Continually assess client needs and identify opportunities for new and/or organic business growth;
- Review, monitor, and manage the client’s budget;
- Own business forecasts for the assigned campaign(s).
Youth Campaign Mobilization Support and Campaign Strategy Oversight
- Oversee and manage health communication campaigns efforts across multiple health topics within Virginia including obesity education, tobacco control, and youth substance use;
- Support grassroots policy change team and health communications campaigns for local and state health agencies in Virginia.
- Manage a skilled team responsible for contract implementation across Virginia;
- Collaborate with and support campaign program teams to empower youth in Virginia through the implementation of Rescue’s youth engagement efforts.
- Strengthen team-wide public health and advocacy knowledge in Virginia, including:
- Conducting internal staff briefings
- Developing internal best practice documents.
Client Management
- Acquire comprehensive understanding and insights into client needs and challenges, with a focus on identifying pivotal concerns and strategic priorities and key areas of focus. .
- Ensure client satisfaction and retention by developing results-driven marketing programs that achieve the client’s business goals;
- Independently lead and make decisions that properly balance the needs of the account such as those of clients, internal goals and teams;
- Act as the agency lead on cross-agency marketing programs by participating in multi-agency work sessions, contributing to the overall planning process, defining strategies and tactics within programs/campaigns, and creating campaign plans;
- Ensure any and all client deliverables are aligned with the Agency’s strategy;
- Continuously push the team to develop new and innovative solutions to address client problems.
Internal Management
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members in multiple departments to develop and implement holistic behavior change strategies for public health campaigns;
- Guide, advise, assist, and stimulate all team members with the explicit goal of developing Client Service talent;
- Ensure that Agency resources are maximized for optimal impact to support target audiences.
Brand Champion
- Serve as the brand champion, internally and externally, by being a positive, proactive and forward-thinking team leader;
- Build strong, trusting relationships with middle and/or senior client management and, when appropriate, involve top Agency management in individual client business;
- Identify ways to celebrate team success, internally and externally - and do it often.
Other
- Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree +7 years relevant experience OR 12 years relevant experience OR Master's Degree +5 years relevant experience
- Ability to develop strong relationships with clients by gaining trust and demonstrating repeated success;
- Ability to foster strong, cohesive working interdisciplinary teams of more than 30 people;
- Aptitude to define solutions that will generate measurable results for the client;
- Thorough knowledge of the principles of advertising, marketing, and media;
- Experience managing and juggling multiple priorities and projects or accounts requiring effective time management and organizational skills; and
- Excellent public speaking skills and experience;

Status: Full-time
Pay Range: $85,000 - $105,000 per year

Environment:
All business-related environments are tobacco-free.
Physical Requirements:
Able to remain in a sitting position for prolonged periods of time for the performance of duties. Able to read from a computer, laptop monitor, or tablet for a full workday and for long periods of time (typically 8 hours) including fonts of various sizes from a variety of sources. If working from a Rescue office location, able to stoop, bend, reach, climb stairs, and move freely throughout the building. Able to travel nationwide as needed to meet with clients, coworkers, or attend meetings and seminars. Must be able to move boxed work documents, up to 40 pounds, in and out of office for travel by car and by air.
