Position Description:

We are looking for an Entry Level Substation Designer to join our ICE Team to improve infrastructure in our Michigan offices. The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and zero to three years of experience. An associate degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology is preferred. Knowledge of Autodesk AutoCad, Autodesk Revit, and/or Microstation is preferred. The candidate must also be self-motivated, work well with others, and have strong writing, and communication skills. 

This position will perform entry level CAD drafting for electrical substation projects, requiring basic technical knowledge utilizing client specific standards, document control processes & procedures, in accordance with governing industry codes and standards.

This position requires periods of intense concentration. This position is hybrid, with the option to be within a normal office environment, work fully remote, or a combination thereof. This position requires infrequent travel.


Typical responsibilities include:
  • Perform CAD drafting for electrical substation projects.
  • Create new drawings or update existing drawings as required
  • Follow CAD Standards
  • Maintain accurate and quality work
  • Work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Seek resolutions on non-standard analytical problems
  • Work closely and effectively communicate with Project Managers and Engineers 
  • Attend project-specific meetings to determine CAD schedules and requirements
  • Attend site visits as required
  • Attend seminars and/or training classes
  • Maintain a safe working environment

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Associate degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology is preferred 


  • Skills/Experience:
  • 0 to 3 years of related experience required
  • Knowledge of Autodesk AutoCad, Autodesk Revit, and/or Microstation preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication/coordination skills
  • Ability to learn on the fly
