About The Job
The IB is embarking on a Digital Transformation journey in line with our mission and core values. Reporting into the Head of Digital Assessment, the Digital Assessment Development Lead will play an integral role in the development of transitioning our IB assessments into a digital format.
The primary purpose of the role is to identify, spearhead, and oversee pertinent areas of market research, delving into technological industry trends and their intersection with subject-specific domains and assessment methodologies, encompassing both formative and summative assessments.
An essential aspect of this role involves championing the synergy between technology, pedagogy, and assessment, with technology as an enabler for enhanced educational outcomes.
Operating within a product development mindset, the Digital Assessment Development Lead will be involved in all stages of the development cycle, from ideation to prototyping, feedback incorporation, and refinement, drawing upon proficiency in digital product development methodologies.
This is an exciting opportunity to play an instrumental part in the IB’s Digital Transformation journey in a role which will evolve to become delivery focused in line with our journey.
This opportunity can be offered to individuals able to occasionally commute to our office in Cardiff (UK), the Hague (Netherlands).
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting market research to identify key and evolving digital assessment/education and subject/domain specific trends and capabilities.
- Translating research, in collaboration with the Head of Digital Assessment, into compelling recommendations for assessment innovation, actions and next steps whilst balancing high stakes assessment constraints
- Creating MVPs/Proof of Concepts by utilising SaaS solutions to demonstrate potential technology applications within the IB context.
- Design and deliver relevant processes ie need, ideation, define, trialling, feedback and refinement loops with key stakeholders. Identify opportunities for evolving practice for digital assessment design and articulate how these can be realised both formative and summative.
- Collaborate with the Education Office teams to design and deliver technical end-to-end assessment solutions based on IB curriculum and assessment principles translated into digital solutions.
- Partner with Assessment Research and Design to translate research and trial findings into transformative assessment roadmap and digital assessment solutions
About You
- Proven experience in a similar end-to-end project-focused role including design, authoring, delivery and post-test analysis. You may have gained this experience in a Product Management, Instructional Design or Digital Assessment Development role in a large-scale digital transformation program environment.
- Previous industry experience within the education sector operating within digital solutions is highly desirable, although not an essential requirement.
- Demonstrable experience of delineating functional and non-functional requirements, translating digital aspirations into technical specifications and tangible products in collaboration with third-party SaaS vendors.
- Ideally you'll have an insight into the product development process (ie. Agile/iterative development approaches).
- An understanding of the aspects of Digital Instructional Design (ie. Working with tools and software solutions to experiment and prototype at ideation/MVP phase).
- High degree of technical knowledge and understanding of digital transformation. Naturally technically minded and comfortable self-learning new technologies within SaaS to a basic level.
- Broad knowledge of key digital practices: product management, delivery methodologies (Agile, waterfall), customer centricity.
- Possession of a relevant qualification (digital education/assessment/instructional design) is highly desired but not required.
