Currently, we are seeking a Junior to Intermediate Mechanical Revit Designer for our Edmonton office as we are expanding and growing.

Job Description – Junior/Intermediate Mechanical Revit Designer Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Revit and AutoCAD drawings from mark-ups prepared by the team leader
  • Design pipe and ductwork layouts in co-ordination with the architectural, electrical and structural components
  • Follow office standards to size piping and ductwork
  • Prepare schematic drawings
  • Work directly with suppliers and manufacturers representatives to obtain equipment selections
  • Capable of creating and modifying Revit families
  • Able to work independently on specified scopes with minimal supervision required.
  • Placing and sizing of distribution systems and equipment following industry standards and
  • Reinbold Design Standards and Guidelines.
  • Perform load calculations using company provided software.
  • Preparation of schematic design, design development and construction documents in either AutoCAD or REVIT and adhere to Reinbold Design Standards and Guidelines.
  • Review your own work for errors and omissions prior to having supervisors review the work. Use the project review checklist and clash detection software to assist in your review for all projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of drawing and book specifications.
  • Coordination of mechanical systems and design with other disciplines.
  • Identify and address the need for additional services and fees to project managers in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with Contract Administration including shop drawing review, RFI responses and on-site review.
  • May attend design and construction meetings with the client, other consultants and the contractors.
  • Maintain project schedules and project budgets to track work progress and manpowerresource utilization with assistance from the Project Manager.
  • Strive to accomplish company goals of high-quality workmanship and project timelines through the continual improvement of workflows and design standards.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would have:

  • A Bachelors in Engineering, C.E.T. specializing in Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Technology Certificate/Diploma
  • Graduates from NAIT – Building Environmental Systems Technology 1 year program strongly encouraged to apply
  • Self-motivated and requires minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal skills and an effective communicator
  • At least 2 – 5 years of experience
  • Experience using REVIT MEP 2015 (or newer) is a prerequisite
  • Experience with AutoCAD & Bluebeam a definite asset
  • Able to think three-dimensionally
  • Experience in mechanical HVAC and Plumbing design is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including plumbing, HVAC, heating, cooling, air handlers, and fire protection. Ability to interpret construction drawings.
  • Knowledge of current codes and standards such as the local plumbing and local building codes.
