Job Title: EEG Technician II, Field Tech

Location: Houston, TX & surrounding metropolitan area

Job Type: Part-Time, PRN

The Role: As an EEG Technician II, Field Tech, you will be at the forefront of delivering specialized in-home diagnostic services for patients with neurological conditions. This role involves conducting diagnostic tests that provide critical data for physician analysis. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Electrode Placement: Accurately and safely positioning electrodes on patients, taking diligent precautions to prevent skin irritation or breakdown
  • Patient Education: Clearly explaining the testing process to patients, addressing any concerns, and ensuring they feel comfortable and informed
  • Equipment Setup: Setting up EEG equipment and cameras in patients' home to maximize safety and ensure precise recordings
  • Equipment Management: After testing, responsibly disconnecting and meticulously cleaning, disinfecting, and safely storing all equipment to maintain hygiene and equipment integrity

This role requires attention to detail, a strong commitment to patient safety, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients to alleviate concerns about the testing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct EEG tests in patients' homes, ensuring electrodes are placed accurately and safely to minimize skin irritation
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, offering clear and compassionate guidance
  • Operate strictly within the guidelines of the American Society of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (ASET) and adhere to all regulatory standards
  • Install EEG and camera equipment to maximize patient safety and ensure precise diagnostic readings. Conduct on-site equipment testing and validation procedures
  • Collect essential patient history from individuals across all age groupsfrom infants to geriatric patientsand integrate this information into the patients medical record
  • Manage and allocate inventory efficiently to ensure availability for in-home studies, and to minimize waste or loss of supplies
  • Verify the accuracy of patient information upon equipment disconnect
  • Ensure that all completed studies are uploaded promptly and correctly
  • Follow the Companys Exposure Control Plan, adhere to OSHAs Bloodborne Pathogen standards, and maintain proper hand hygiene
  • Clean, disinfect, maintain, and store all equipment according to Company protocols
  • Strictly adhere to HIPAA (and PHI) regulations, as well as the Companys confidentiality and code of conduct policies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Relevant clinical degree, certification, or training (e.g., EEG Technician I, II); ABRET certification is preferred (R.EEG.T)
  • CPR certified and have annual PPD test results
  • Valid Texas drivers license (or equivalent issued in the U.S.); if selected, candidate will be subject to background check and review of DMV public records
  • 3 years experience in neurology, epilepsy, or a related field is preferred
  • Comfortable using digital tools and technology for health records and communication; if selected, candidate will be subject to typing and other proficiency testing for digital tools (eg, use of Microsoft Office suite)

Other Requirements:

  • Provide automobile (or suitable vehicle) with insurance for transportation to and from patients home; you will be responsible for transporting a 3X3 hard case filled with medical equipment and supplies
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time, and able to stand, kneel and stoop
  • Frequent use of fingers and hands; reaching with hands and arms
  • Talking and hearing
  • Clarity of vision both near and far
  • Ability to distinguish colors
  • Determine sequence of actions and ability to respond calmly in an emergency
