Job description

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Reporting to the Manager, Systems Engineering, this position is for a skilled Systems Engineer with expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to support the development, integration, and maintenance of complex nuclear power plant system designs using model-centric best practices. This role will leverage MBSE tools and practices to ensure consistency, traceability, and clarity of system requirements, functions, and architecture.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Apply MBSE methodologies to develop and manage:
  2. system architecture
  3. functional analysis and decomposition
  4. requirements decomposition, traceability, and verification
  5. interface definition and control
  6. Collaborate with multi-discipline teams of stakeholders to implement systems engineering best practices in support of system design reviews, requirement reviews, and other department initiatives.
  7. Create and manage SQL queries for exporting information from the model
  8. Train and mentor staff in MBSE use and best practices.
  9. Act as an ambassador for the Systems Engineering team to communicate with and educate other departments on MBSE concepts and initiatives.
  10. Produce Systems Engineering deliverables in accordance with company procedures and standards.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Quality Assurance:  Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 preferred.

 

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education/Certification: Minimum requirement is B.S. degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Some coursework in Systems Engineering preferred. INCOSE Systems Engineer certification preferred. Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated industry is preferred.
  • Required Experience: Minimum 8 years of directly-related, full-time professional experience. Must have demonstrated experience in model-based systems engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience working as a systems engineer on complex multi-disciplinary design projects, preferably in the power generation or nuclear industries. Other required experience includes:
    • Knowledge of systems engineering concepts, tools, techniques such as:
      • Requirements engineering (e.g., INCOSE, NASA, ISO/IEC 15288, etc)
      • Model-based Systems Engineering (Sparx Enterprise Architect preferred, SysML preferred)
      • Design/gate reviews
      • Product Life-cycle management software (Aras innovator preferred)
      • MBSE and Systems Engineering program development
    • Strong technical writing, communication, computer, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to be proactive and work with minimal direction once tasks are assigned and understood.
    • Ability to manage conflicting demands and priorities.
    • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Industry Requirements:  Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits: 

The target pay range for this position is $127,104 - $153,401 annually.  The full pay range is $113,955 - $178,237 annually.
