Summary:
The Assistant Production Manager oversees day-to-day production and quality operations in collaboration with the Production Planning Coordinator. This role ensures the production schedule meets customer needs, supervises Production Workers, and coordinates all quality assurance efforts.
Essential Job Functions:
Coordinate production floor staff in preparation of product for warehouse storage and shipping
Directly supervise Production Workers and manage all aspects of supervision
Complete scheduled performance appraisals
Ensure all production, quality, and staffing needs are consistently met
Lead quality assurance activities per Safe Quality Foods (SQF) requirements
Verify and submit all daily reports and production documentation
Support achievement of Unistel operations goals and objectives
Follow up on customer service concerns as needed
Coordinate and approve time off requests for assigned staff
Oversee hiring, training, and coaching of production staff
Provide relevant in-service training and ensure compliance with required training
Assist with cross-functional Unistel activities as needed
Attend mandatory education and training sessions
Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong independent work ethic and ability to collaborate in a team environment
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in ERP systems for inventory and scheduling
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Education and Experience:
HS Diploma or equivalency required
Associate’s degree preferred
Minimum two years of industrial supervisory experience
Forklift/Tow Motor certification required
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid NYS Driver’s License required
All experience and education requirements, except when mandated by law, may be waived at management’s discretion with approval from the Chief Operating Officer and Human Resources.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
Sedentary work environment
Ability to reach above shoulder level and turn/twist upper body
Frequent hand use for fine manipulation, keyboarding, and typing
