Development Assistant

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Development Assistanton behalf of our client, a leading mission-driven nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC! This full-time, hybrid,contract-to-hire opportunity is an exciting chance for a passionate development professional to support strategic institutional fundraising efforts in collaboration with a high-performing development team.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer with exceptional attention to detail, experience in grant writing and reporting, and a commitment to social justice. They are organized, deadline-driven, and enthusiastic about using their communication skills to support high-impact philanthropic partnerships.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Draft compelling and accurate grant reports that demonstrate progress on funded programs and initiatives
• Respond to inquiries from current and prospective institutional donors in collaboration with the development team
• Write a range of materials including letters of intent, cultivation pieces, and grant proposals for foundations and corporate partners
• Maintain organized records and databases to track funder communications, reporting requirements, and deadlines
• Monitor reporting activity and ensure timely submissions through internal grant tracking systems
• Support preparation of presentations and briefing materials for funder meetings and internal planning
  
  

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong experience in nonprofit development, institutional giving, or a philanthropic setting
• Strong grant writing, editing, and professional communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and recordkeeping
• Familiarity with fundraising databases (e.g., Salesforce, Raisers Edge) is a plus
• Commitment to advancing civil rights, racial justice, and equity
  
  

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

This contract-to-hire position offers a competitive hourly rate of $40$45/hr, based on experience.
