PRIMARY PURPOSE

Oversees key processes of the academic financial team of Advocate Health, including functions such as oversight and management responsibilities for all EPIC research billing activities, all clinical research post-award activities, and all cash management activities, which encompasses industry-sponsored and research-related agreements and awards, as assigned.

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead the assigned Academic Finance team for Advocate Health, overseeing key functions such as billing, clinical research financial administration, invoicing, accounts receivable, cash management, etc. as appropriate in the assigned team.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to research billing and financial management.
  • Analyze and evaluate activities and services, using continuous feedback and data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance on research charge capture, billing compliance, and post-award financial issues to investigators, research staff, and financial services teams.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable regulations, staying informed about industry developments.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, investigators, and study teams to identify areas for continuous process improvement and deploy solutions.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for research faculty and staff, covering post-award procedures and compliance regulations.
  • Designs and directs the work of the team(s). Selects, coaches, and develops team(s). Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manages performance by recognizing achievement, providing feedback, and administering progressive discipline when necessary.
  • May develop and/or recommend operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
  • Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that people actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.
