What we’re looking for

Platzi is looking for a Course Director for our English Academy, with a deep passion for language education and a proven track record in leading English programs. This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can oversee the entire school’s efforts—from designing and delivering world-class synchronous English classes, to coordinating with external teachers, managing schedules and payments, and continuously improving course quality. The ideal candidate is an experienced English teacher who has also successfully led English programs before. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

What you’ll be doing
  • Academic Leadership — You'll lead the strategic direction and daily operations of the English Academy, ensuring its educational goals are met and exceeded. This includes defining the learning journey, setting pedagogical standards, and promoting a culture of excellence in English education.
  • Synchronous Teaching — Deliver engaging and effective live English classes to our students, bringing energy, clarity, and structure to every session.
  • Teacher Coordination — Manage and support a team of external English instructors by coordinating class schedules, aligning academic goals, and ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Teacher Engagement — Inspire and collaborate with instructors to maintain high teaching standards, while also mentoring them on pedagogical best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Quality Improvement — Lead efforts to continuously enhance the learning experience based on student feedback, course performance metrics, and input from the quality assurance team.
  • Teacher Recruitment — Recruit top-tier teaching talent and build a robust lead list of potential instructors, ensuring each course is led by high-caliber educators.
  • Teacher Support — Provide comprehensive support to teachers, including organizing pre-session evaluations, offering coaching, and setting clear teaching expectations.
  • Market-Driven Curriculum — Research and identify trends in English language education to ensure our courses remain innovative, relevant, and tailored to student needs.
  • Launch Strategy — Work closely with marketing to plan and execute course launches and campaigns, amplifying reach and ensuring alignment between content and audience expectations.

Who you are
  • 4+ years of experience teaching English, with strong classroom presence and pedagogical excellence.
  • Proven experience as an academic coordinator or program lead for English language programs, including team and curriculum management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead educational initiatives from concept to launch.
  • Experience designing and delivering impactful synchronous learning experiences.
  • Proficiency in organizing teams, managing schedules, and handling administrative aspects such as teacher payments.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to improve learning experiences and teacher performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proactive, organized, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams (academic, product, marketing).
  • English level: C1 or above.
  • Excellent collaboration skills, working closely with the marketing team and other stakeholders on course launch strategies and other needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with teachers, students, and team members.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to lead teams and projects, providing direction and motivation to achieve common goals.
