The Global Supply Engineering & Sustainment team leads the technical support for manufacturing applications and core platforms, overseeing technology and vendor partnerships, and ensuring strong architecture governance.Our mission is to ensure that the platforms, systems and digital capabilities that power our global supply chain are reliable, scalable and future-ready.
The Sr. Manager, Foundational Platforms Technical Product Owner (secondment) is a dynamic and strategic colleague that will lead the lifecycle management and strategic direction of foundational platforms that underpin a broad range of in-house and COTS applications. These include, but are not limited to, DOC (Digital Operations Center) platform, Edge Gateway, and Neo4j – platforms increasingly relied upon across multiple business units within and outside of Digital Manufacturing.
In this newly created role, the candidate will serve as the visionary steward, internal advocate, and technical anchor for a suite of shared enterprise platforms. The colleague will be responsible for developing and executing a product strategy that ensures long-term sustainability, growth, and modernization of these platforms – including establishing self-sustaining funding models, expanding platform adoption, and building roadmaps aligned to business value. This role blends business development, product leadership, and technical fluency, and requires a collaborative leader with the ability to influence across complex, global matrix organizations.
How You Will Achieve It
The Sr. Manager, Foundational Technical Product Owner colleague’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Product Ownership (33%)
Own the product vision and roadmap for core platforms such as DOC platform, Edge Gateway, and Neo4j.
Define platform value propositions and success metrics across lifecycle stages.
Prioritize features, upgrades, and architectural investments based on cross-functional needs and technical strategy.
Partner with platform engineering and DevOps teams to deliver high-value improvements iteratively.
Advocate for continuous platform investment to meet emerging business and technical requirements.
Lead new project scoping, costing and business case definition
Facilitate User Forums and Governance alignment
Lead agile management product owner key activities (e.g. backlog management, program increment planning, etc.) to provide clear direction to agile teams on work priorities
Lead solution governance and vendor relationship management
Own program financial management: Demand and Procurement (POD, SOWs, POs, etc.), Budget Forecasting, Accrual, and Re-classes
Business Development & Stakeholder Engagement (33%)
Act as the internal business development lead, cultivating relationships with Digital, Manufacturing, Quality, PGS and Enterprise IT teams.
Promote platform adoption across departments and external partners, articulating capabilities and integration potential.
Secure funding through cross-functional business cases, usage-based cost models, and value-driven narratives.
Lead stakeholder engagement forums to gather platform feedback, promote new capabilities, and align on priorities.
Technical Leadership (33%)
Maintain a deep understanding of platform architectures, integration patterns, and surrounding technology ecosystems.
Guide technical direction in partnership withsolution architects, integration and platform engineers.
Evaluate scalability, security, performance, and interoperability considerations in product decisions.
Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies that can enhance platform capabilities.
Qualifications
Must-Have
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering with 6+ years of experience in IT, digital platforms, or software product management roles.
Experience with closed off-the-shelf (COTS), and internally developed applications in manufacturing, quality, or enterprise IT.
Product management certifications (e.g., SAFe POPM, Pragmatic Institute, AIPMM).
Relevant domain experience in manufacturing and/or quality operations.
Experience in regulated industries (e.g. Pharma, Medical Devices, etc).
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, and secure and manage funding within matrix organizations.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influence skills.
Nice-to-Have
MBA/MS degree with 5+years of experience or PhD with 1+year of experience.
Proven track record managing digital products or platforms with cross-functional teams and distributed users.
Strong technical acumen in data platforms, edge computing, and/or graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, OPC, MQTT, historian integration) is a plus
Familiarity with IT/OT convergence, data mesh principles, or industrial IoT architecture.
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to manage many parallel objectives and changing priorities.
Understanding complex interrelationships between system components and design/implementation decisions.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Job will require working with global teams and applications. Flexible working schedule will be needed on occasion to accommodate planned agile sprint planning and system releases as well as unplanned/on-call level 3 support.
Travel requirements are project based. Estimated percentage of travel to support project and departmental activities is less than 10%.
