The Role

We are seeking experienced, detail-oriented NCLEX Item Writers with a strong background in nursing education to develop high-quality, Next Generation NCLEX (NGN) items. This is a remote, contract-based opportunity ideal for professionals currently engaged in academic nursing who are passionate about contributing to the success of future nurses.

Responsibilities

• Develop Next Generation NCLEX-style items aligned with current NCSBN guidelines and test plan.
• Create clinical judgment case studies, bowtie items, and other innovative NGN item types.
• Ensure content is clear, accurate, evidence-based, and reflects real-world clinical scenarios.
• Revise and refine items based on feedback from the editorial and content review teams.
• Review and provide feedback on items written by other team members.
• Collaborate with other item writers, editors, and subject matter experts as needed.
  
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Currently teaching in a nursing program (ADN, BSN, or higher).
• Minimum of 2 years experience in academic nursing education.
• Evidence of NGN items you have previously written (required).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Familiarity with the NCSBN Clinical Judgment Measurement Model (CJMM).
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with NGN NCLEX item development or test prep content creation.
• Excellent written communication and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a remote setting.
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent; Nursing Education focus a plus
