Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world. The Role
The technical services department is looking for a talented lead technologist who will report to the chief engineer, projects, and would like to be part of a team that will provide design solutions and technical support to Cameco operations and other business units.
In this role, you will:
- Provide leadership and guidance to technical design teams, including coordination of multidiscipline resources in support of work executed by both internal and external entities.
- Be responsible for ensuring projects are achieving schedule milestones for deliverables within the set budget targets.
- Serve as a representative for the technical design teams in coordination across other departments and manage project stakeholder engagement during development and review of technical deliverables.
- Review and coordinate oversight of design work completed by external engineering consultants.
- Serve as a first point of contact in provision of technical support and planning inputs to site and small projects at Cameco’s operations.
- Support preparation and execution of procurement packages, capital cost estimates, and scope of work documentation.
- Be responsible for ensuring work is done in accordance with Cameco’s processes, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements to an appropriate level of quality.
- Provide support for planning and preparation of field execution activities.
- Provide technical support to projects executing construction or commissioning field activities.
Required:
- Engineering technology, applied science or related diploma
- 12 or more years of related operational/industrial work experience required
- P.Tech, A.Sc.T, C.E.T. or international equivalent
- Projects will be based at Cameco’s northern Saskatchewan sites and Ontario operations. Occasional travel to these sites will be required
Recommended:
- Eligibility to apply for engineering licensee in Saskatchewan and Ontario
- Proven ability to lead and manage small design teams within a project-driven environment
- Background in industrial and/or mining sectors
- Familiarity with construction methodologies and project commissioning
- Skilled in developing procurement and construction work packages
