POSITION: Technical Writer

DURATION: Long Term
End Client: Texas Commission on Environmental Quality

Location: Austin, TX – ONSITE

1. Working with the TCEQ staff to develop technical product documentation for end-users of the Texas Air Emissions Repository (TexAER) database.

2. Developing, outlining, formatting, and producing detailed program and end-user documentation with appropriate visualizations. Documentation may include tutorials, user guides, troubleshooting manuals, and reference manuals.

3. Gathering and documenting staff feedback on draft documents. Incorporate user-requested changes as directed by the supervisor.

4. Producing video tutorials as requested by the program area, which meet TCEQ, DIR and World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) specifications and standards.

5. Communicating and working with people of all technical levels in a team environment.

II. CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

8	Required	Knowledge of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems and their integration with end user business processes
5	Required	Experience with Web page user interface design
5	Required	Experience with developing end-user documents for complex relational database applications
5	Required	Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with people of all technical levels
5	Required	Five (5) years of full-time experience in information technology and/or database systems
5	Required	Ability to explain abstract concepts and terms
5	Required	Knowledge of database concepts such as referential integrity and data normalization
5	Required	Experience with Oracle databases and familiarity with Oracle objects (tables, constraints, triggers, etc.).
5	Preferred	Skill in preparing technical documents of varying complexities for technical and non-technical audiences;
5	Preferred	Skill in analyzing and interpreting database applications, user practices, user reports, and user procedures
