What it’s like to be a Senior Underwriter on our Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Resources Mid-Market Team

At Northbridge Insurance, our Senior Underwriters are trusted advisors and technical experts who thrive on solving complex challenges. On our MAR Mid-Market team, you’ll specialize in package underwriting—including Property, CGL, Commercial Auto, E&O, D&O, and Cyber—tailoring solutions for mid-sized clients in the Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Resource sectors across Ontario.

You’ll work closely with Actuarial, Claims, and Risk Services to gain a 360° view of each account, ensuring your underwriting decisions are informed, balanced, and aligned with our appetite. You’ll also be a key relationship builder—known for your responsiveness, professionalism, and ability to deliver value to brokers and clients alike.

This is a collaborative, high-performing team where knowledge-sharing and mentorship are part of the culture. Whether you're coaching junior underwriters or expanding your own risk appetite, you’ll be supported every step of the way.

You’re great at:

• Underwriting complex Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Resource risks in the mid-market space

• Balancing technical precision with practical, client-focused solutions

• Building strong, responsive relationships with brokers and internal partners

• Collaborating across departments to assess risk holistically

• Mentoring and sharing knowledge with peers and junior underwriters

You have:

• 10+ years of underwriting experience, with a strong focus on Manufacturing, Agriculture, or Resource-based industries

• Experience underwriting multi-line package policies (Property, CGL, Auto, E&O, D&O, Cyber)

• A CIP designation (or are actively pursuing it)

• A reputation for exceptional customer service and follow-through

• A team-first mentality and a passion for continuous learning
