We are looking for an experienced and business-minded Director Legal & M&A to take the lead in high-impact transactions and provide strategic legal guidance at the heart of Nutreco’s global growth. 

As Director Legal & M&A, you serve as a key legal partner in matters related to strategic growth, acquisitions, and complex, cross-border contracting. You bring strong technical expertise and sound M&A judgment, paired with deep business understanding. You translate commercial ambitions into actionable legal strategies, ask the right questions, and position legal as an enabler of strategic decision-making. 

You will thrive in this role if you create value beyond risk mitigation. You help shape Nutreco’s strategic direction through clear legal vision, are highly visible across the organization, and act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, local legal teams, and external counsel around the world. 

About the Role 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead legal support for Nutreco’s corporate departments, with a strong focus on M&A transactions. 
• Advise Nutreco business units and supervise local counsel on material legal matters — particularly those that are high-value, high-risk, or outside their typical scope. Depending on the complexity and local experience, you may step in directly or oversee execution. 
• Safeguard and further develop Nutreco’s corporate legal structure, working closely with corporate counsel. 
• Manage and coordinate external legal counsel globally, ensuring quality, alignment, and budget discipline. 
• Drive continuous improvement in Nutreco’s contract management system, including risk assessments and the development and maintenance of templates. 

Skills and Expertise  

Qualifications:  

• 8 to 12 years of experience as a lawyer, preferably of which a substantial number experienced in-house; 
• Strong expertise in M&A processes within middle size and big companies; 
• Interest in the people, products and processes of the business;  
• Good collaboration & communication skills; 
• Ability to work under pressure and short deadlines; 
• Flexible in working hours & good time management skills.
