Controller

HumanN is looking for a Controller to join the team! The Controller will be responsible to all the duties necessary to prepare, manage, direct accounting activities, and ensure the integrity of the company period financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, with exemplary accounting, internal control and business practices.

This position will perform related accounting and financial reporting support activities including preparing journal entries, auditing, cost accounting, liability estimates and analysis, and cost control, resource planning and scheduling.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure the on-going maintenance and integrity of all required supporting balance sheet asset and liability schedules.
• Conduct period P&L trend analysis and reconciliations to ensure the integrity of books in alignment with the annual budget and forecasts. Perform and document necessary variance analysis of unusual items.
• Review the month-end balance sheet, make recommend any period end adjustments to CFO, and enter the journal entry.
• Ensure all necessary monthly general ledger accounting reports and journal entries are appropriately filed, archived, and maintained.
• Calculate and reconcile sales commissions and royalties with the G/L.
• Review, validate and perform book to schedule accounting reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Review and validate fixed asset and depreciation schedules on monthly basis.
• Review and maintain various company amortization schedules on a monthly basis.
• Maintain the supporting month-end balance sheet schedules.
• Review and approve all accounting G/L journal entries prior to posting.

General Accounting:

• Supervise accounts payable activities|
• Review & approve weekly A/P payment selection.
• Initiate outgoing ACHs and wires.
• Write, implement and maintain current accounting internal control policies and procedures.
• Analyze and recommend solutions to improve internal control policies & procedures.
• Maintain current knowledge of GAAP, accounting related pronouncements, regulatory issues, etc.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with employees and external stakeholders.
• Handle special projects on an as needed basis.

Skills/Competencies/Experience:

• 10+ years of progressive experience in Accounting roles, with 2-3 years in similar role as Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller in a $100+ million company.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA highly desirable.
• Experience in CPG or eCommerce Marketplace is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of NetSuite ERP.
• Expert-level knowledge of Excel.
• Strong project management skills with superior multi-tasking abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong business judgement and a high level of initiative.
• Excellent analytical, planning, and process development skills.
