Sr Backend Engineer

Virtasant is a leading cloud consulting services provider. We heavily focus on lift & shift, cloud-native development, cloud cost optimization, and migration services. As a consulting company, we often are faced with the challenge to create an engineering team in a matter of a week or two. To do that, we have created a secondary support business that runs an engineering talent network and provides staffing services.

Our client is a US-based FinTech company that develops a payment processing gateway. They are a globally distributed team of software experts who provide an all-in-one platform with embedded payment solutions.

This role will be responsible for developing new products and capabilities on the core platform to meet customer needs. This person will work with our largest customers to solve issues and resolve bugs. The platform is complex and therefore presents a fantastic opportunity to learn about embedded payments and payments facilitation.  

We are looking for Senior Backend Engineers who can operate both as individual contributors and technical leaders. This is a high-impact role where you will lead critical initiatives around microservices migration, serverless architecture, and platform scalability. You'll be a key point of contact in planning, leading, and executing technical solutions while mentoring others and setting standards for engineering excellence.

Position Requirements:

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, serverless microservices using AWS.
• Help disperse siloed platform knowledge and bring clarity and documentation to existing systems
• Collaborate on building and running a data lake to reduce reporting dependency on microservices.
• Own and deliver key platform inittiatives while ensuring maintainability and best practices.
• Refactor and modernized a legacy PHP codebase running on EC2, while contributing to new services written in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Work closely with future hires (DevOps, Data Engineering, Backend, etc.)as the team grows. 

Mandatory qualifications:

• Programming: Node.js with TypeScript and PHP.

• AWS: EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, 

• Active MQ

• GitHub

• Database: PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
