As a faculty member at RMU’s Department of Professional Counseling, your strong interest in clinical and didactic instruction will cultivate knowledge with a lasting dedication to the integration of exemplary academics and engagement.

This position is either local in the Provo, Utah, area or a remote position with some travel requirements to Utah and is a 12-month appointment beginning in January 2026. **Compensation is based on academic rank and experience

Core Functions:

  • Responsible for the Counseling Program’s curriculum design, student instruction, evaluation and progression, clinical education, as well as student admissions and advisement. 
  • Develop and facilitate effective asynchronous and synchronous learning experiences for counseling students.
  • Give interactive lectures, and facilitate group discussions using technologies and course-related software, including websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
  • Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weights the distribution of various evaluation categories.
  • Ensure that the content and level of material included in exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
  • Regularly assess each course and the instruction that is offered.
  • Demonstrate consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and provide timely feedback to students.
  • Provide academic advisement and support to students.
  • Provide professional service to the university through participation in appropriate shared governance. 
  • Provide service to the profession through active engagement with professional organizations.
  • Conduct evidence-based inquiry to advance professional research. 

Background/Expertise:

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education and be qualified as Core Counseling Faculty under CACREP Standards,
  • Graduate-level teaching experience in counseling
  • Current licensure as a Professional Counselor (addictions, marriage, couples and family, mental health, rehabilitation, or school counseling),
  • At least two (2) years of clinical experience and a state or national clinical supervisor credential (e.g., LPC-S, ACS, or equivalent),
