Your impact at MUFG

As an Associate Relationship Manager GCIB, you will be a member of the front office team.


Your main role will be to pro-actively contribute in the management of customer relationships, responding to customer enquiries, monitoring and supporting associated tasks and activities.

Frequent interaction with various types of clients, onsite visits, bankers meetings, conferences and seminars. You will be working with many internal and external stakeholders on high-profile transactions in EMEA and across the world. GCIB team focuses on managing all different Product Partners (e.g. Capital Markets, Structured Finance, and Transaction Banking) and regional / local relationship managers across the MUFG network globally. You will also have the possibility to have full relationship management responsibility

Function position

The function is part of the Global Corporate Investment Banking (GCIB) Division, managing MUFG’s Large Corporate Clients in The Netherlands and Belgium-Luxembourg. The division supports MUFG’s strategy to become the world’s leading debt house and strategic partner to Investment Grade and Non-Investment Grade Corporate Clients in EMEA by increasing the customer base and developing ancillary business, enhancing NOP and RoE. Credit analysis on GCIB clients is conducted with the help of the Credit Analysis Department, KYC review is conducted with the help of the KYC/CSO Department.

The GCIB BeNeLux team defines the strategy in consultation and in line with GCIB EMEA business strategy, and selects the prospect names which fit the onboarding criteria of GCIB. The profit target is determined in joint cooperation with the planning department and Head of Corporate Banking GCIB EMEA.


The Associate reports to the Director, Senior Relationship Manager BeNeLux.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support Senior Bankers in all aspects of group client management, including business development, pipeline reporting, operational aspects, fee and asset, other internal reporting and marketing activities.
  • Working closely with Credit, Risk and Compliance teams to collect required legal documents and meet all regulatory and internal policies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in know your customer and required legal documents.
  • Provide input into pre- screenings, application preparation and submission process: business rationale, returns, facility structure, and more.
  • Assist in execution of transactions, including facility documentation review.
  • Prepare presentations and pitches.
  • Support MUFG’s Net Zero Banking Alliance / ESG / Sustainable Financing objectives.
  • Assist in marketing the MUFG Global Network to our clients, when working with our network offices in 50 countries.
  • Ensure all control requirements are fully complied with on a timely basis: for example, CRM Tool, KYC, Compliance, monthly follow-up sheets, covenants monitoring, application due date control, outstanding conditions and instructions etc.
  • Ensure compliance with the Bank’s rules, policies, procedures and guidelines together with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain updated files (both electronic and paper-based where necessary: download data and store info where required).
  • Support and prepare required documentation, sheets, compliance docs in regards to on boarding of customers; follow-up with responsible divisions and with the customer in relation to those requirements.
  • Assemble & prepare income & return data for individual clients (Customer Profit Analysis)
  • Produce various management information reports on GCIB’s NL client portfolio.
  • Adapt to and identify changes in systems, processes and working practices in order to achieve operational improvement.
  • Ensure that the daily workflow processing is up to date and accurate.
  • Provide advice and guidance to team members including motivation, support and the sharing of best practice as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the completion of the team’s workload and support team members.

In order to be successful in the role, you will need the following:

Skills and experience:

  • Intellectual and working background at HBO/University level (professional economic/financial/administrative education).
  • The function requires at least 3 years of experience in a similar function or relevant working environment
  • The function requires relevant knowledge of the work flows and processes of the business environment in which MUFG and the Global Corporate Investment Banking division operates.
  • The function requires knowledge and experience with relevant products offered by MUFG, including Transaction Banking, Subsidiary Banking, Working Capital Solutions, Forex and Derivatives, Debt Capital & Loan Markets and Project Finance.
  • Experienced with applicable legislation, regulation and policies, including KYC/Wft, credit and market risk business, policies, rules and guidelines.
  • The function also requires knowledge of and experience with all relevant systems and automated database applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is essential, Dutch is preferred. Other language skills are beneficial.
  • Social skills are required to maintain good internal and external contacts. A co-operative spirit, a pro-active attitude and own initiatives are essential as well as a service-minded approach.
