Job description

Job Summary:
The Senior Director, Product Marketing will serve as the architect and leader of the Product Marketing function, responsible for defining how our products are positioned, launched, and sustained in the market. As a newly created role, this position offers a unique opportunity to establish foundational processes, build cross-functional alignment, and directly influence business growth through strategic insight and execution.

Responsibilities:

This role demands a blend of analytical rigor, creative storytelling, and strong business acumen. The Senior Director will act as the internal voice of the customer deeply attuned to the motivations, concerns, and decision-making behaviors of our target segments. This role will lead the development and dissemination of customer personas, journey maps, and insight-driven strategies that guide product development, marketing, and sales efforts.

A critical part of this role is mastering the product portfolio, not only understanding the technical features and capabilities but translating them into customer value. The Senior Director will evaluate where our products excel and where there are gaps, bringing a customer-first lens to feature prioritization and roadmap planning. This includes partnering with Product and Engineering teams to ensure future development aligns with actual market needs.

Given the complexity and variety of our distribution channels, the Senior Director will also become an expert in channel-specific dynamics recognizing that positioning, messaging, and go-to-market approaches may need to flex based on audience, acquisition model, or sales strategy. This includes tailoring content and enablement strategies that resonate with channel partners and support revenue acceleration.

Positioned at the intersection of Product, Sales, and Marketing, this role will drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment. The Senior Director will lead go-to market strategy for new product launches, oversee competitive intelligence and market research, and craft differentiated value propositions that elevate our brand and convert interest into action.

Above all, this role requires a hands-on, self-starting leader who is energized by ambiguity, confident in driving change, and highly skilled at earning credibility across senior leadership and functional stakeholders. The Senior Director, Product Marketing will not simply support business objectives, they will shape them, influencing how we grow, who we serve, and how we win.

Performance Outcomes

Customer and Market Insight

  • Develop deep understanding of target customer segments, including motivations, pain points, and decision-making drivers

  • Conduct and synthesize market research, competitive analysis, and customer feedback

  • Translate insights into actionable strategies that influence product development and marketing efforts

  • Share customer knowledge across teams to align strategy and execution

Product and Channel Expertise

  • Build deep expertise in the full product portfolio, including features, benefits, and limitations

  • Identify how products meet (or fail to meet) customer needs and inform roadmap planning

  • Understand the unique characteristics and needs of different distribution channels

  • Tailor product strategy to align with channel-specific acquisition models and sales approaches

Positioning and Messaging Strategy

  • Define product value propositions that clearly differentiate offerings in the market

  • Create compelling messaging that resonates with target audiences across segments and channels

  • Lead development of positioning frameworks and messaging playbooks

  • Collaborate with brand, content, and design teams to ensure consistent product narratives

Cross-Functional Go-to-Market Leadership

  • Lead go-to-market planning for product launches and major initiatives

  • Align with Product Development, Sales, Engineering, and Marketing on execution

  • Develop sales enablement tools that communicate product value and drive adoption

  • Monitor launch effectiveness and optimize strategy based on performance data

Function Building and Strategic Influence

  • Establish the Product Marketing function’s processes, tools, and performance metrics

  • Act as a thought partner and trusted advisor across senior leadership and functional teams

  • Influence company strategy by connecting customer, product, and market perspectives

  • Foster cross-functional trust and alignment through clear communication and collaboration

Education, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in marketing, business, or a related field is a plus

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Product Marketing, ideally within technology or consumer-focused industries; experience in Channel Marketing strongly preferred

  • Proven track record of launching and scaling products in competitive markets

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas and tailor messaging to diverse audiences

  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, high-growth environments with broad organizational influence

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and lead through influence

  • Hands-on and action-oriented; a “doer” who leads by example

  • Takes full ownership and accountability for outcomes

  • Strong collaborator who values team success and open communication

  • Professional and grounded, with the confidence to challenge constructively

  • Low ego, low drama—driven by purpose, not personal recognition

  • Deep belief in LegalShield’s mission and the impact of the work
