About the Team:

Technology & Data (T&D) is one of the four key business lines at ASX and encompasses two core revenue lines. It includes the co-location business Tech Services, and our Information data services business. Tech and Data, Product Delivery is a trusted partner, empowering our customers to safely access, understand and consume Tech Services and Data Products. In the Product Delivery team, we have specialised skills and work together in unity providing exceptional services to achieve customer outcomes.

What You'll Do:

  • Success in this role will be demonstrated by developing and deploying data products and associated analytics using a mixture of cloud-based solutions.
  • You will engage directly with internal stakeholders, including product managers and domain experts to understand the mechanics of financial markets and how the data produced in ASX systems can enable you to perform complex modelling, analysis and engineering.
  • As part of your responsibilities, you will engineer solution prototypes and commercial data products by performing analytics engineering, model development, and build of creative data testing solutions.
  • You will implement engineering best practice, including automation, reusability and packaging of code, and logical storage and organisation of data for query efficiency.
  • Day to day, you will be expected to help support, maintain and enhance the ecosystem of tools that are used by you and your team to innovate at scale, and deliver quickly.
  • You will be expected to take initiative and be a self-starter, someone who is comfortable with problem solving and owning a solution from start to finish.

     

What You'll Need:

Must have

  • 3 or more years working as a data engineer specialising in analytics and/or a data analyst with exposure to financial market businesses functions and datasets.
  • Achieved tertiary qualifications in finance/commerce/economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science or another relevant field.
  • Experience with engineering data processing workflows using tools and services offered by Azure/AWS/GCP.
  • Experience with using a variety of traditional data manipulation tools and techniques (primarily Python, SQL).
  • An understanding and knowledge of core data structures and algorithms concepts, data mining, data transformation and data visualisation across large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Demonstrable experience with communicating and collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working in a fast-paced and iterative environment where outcomes are often unknown at the outset and priorities can change.

What you need to enjoy and be good at for this role:

  • Financial Markets Literacy – Interest in financial data sets, capital markets asset classes (spanning across Equities, Derivatives, or Fixed Income)
  • Technical Acumen – Familiarity with scripting languages including Shell/Bash and JavaScript, experience with administering cloud infrastructure resource.
  • Intellectual Curiosity – Interested in data and data science related fields, DevOps, ML Model Management,  data governance and related engineering concepts, interested in the drivers and continual improvement.
  • Results oriented – understands what levers to pull to drive outcomes in tightly regulated but changing environment.
  • Adaptable – enjoys change and thrives on ambiguity.
