Course: GGR337H5F: Environmental Remote Sensing (Sci)

Description: This introductory course emphasizes mastering fundamental remote sensing concepts and utilizing remotely sensed data for monitoring land resources and environmental change. Topics include surface-energy interactions, sensor systems, image interpretation, and applications for examining soil, vegetation and water resources. Upon completion of this course, students should have the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue more advanced work in digital image processing and remote sensing applications.

Mondays 13:00 - 15:00

Estimated Enrolment: 90

TA Support: 260 hours (will be subject to final enrollment figures)

Sessional Dates of Appointment: September 1 – December 31, 2025

Salary: In accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, rate of pay is $9,820.70 for a Half (F/S) course, $19,641.40 for a full (Y) course. All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay.
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications: PhD in Geomatics or a related field. Proficient with ErDAS, ArcPro. Previous experience teaching a similar course, and evidence of teaching excellence in the subject covered in the course would be an asset.

Description of Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TA’s assigned to course; order all necessary readings.
