User Experience Best Practice Lead

About the Role

ERGO Forsikring is on an exciting journey of transformation and growth. As we merge three organizations from Norway, Sweden, and Denmark into a single, Unified Company, we are seeking a User Experience (UX) Best Practice Lead who thrives in change and sees opportunity in complexity.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in embedding user-centered design thinking across our product development lifecycle. You’ll advocate for UX from the earliest stages of project and product shaping and ensure best practices are applied across teams and markets.

In this role you need to enjoy switching between hands-on design-processes or research work and more strategic responsibilities. You’ll engage with senior stakeholders across business and tech while also getting into the details when needed, shaping prototypes, driving discovery phases, or guiding early-stage concepts. You’re as comfortable in design tools as you are in strategic conversations.

In Copenhagen, you’ll be our very first dedicated UX professional - but you won’t be alone. You’ll quickly get introduced with the Ergo Innovation Lab in Berlin, where you’ll collaborate on forward-thinking initiatives like AI design sprints and emerging tech explorations. At the same time, you’ll play a key role in building up our UX presence in India, working closely with colleagues in our Mumbai office to hire and support new UX team members as we establish nine new product teams from beginning of August.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion UX: Advocate for and demonstrate the value of UX at the early stages of projects, ensuring user needs are embedded in every phase of product development.

• Lead Best Practices: Define, refine, and communicate UX best practices across distributed teams, ensuring consistency, quality, and scalability.

• Hands-On Execution: Jump in when needed to lead or support UX activities - whether it’s framing a problem space, sketching out early ideas, facilitating a discovery sprint, or reviewing user flows.

• Support and Mentor: Guide UX colleagues based in Mumbai, providing mentorship, feedback, and support as they embed UX into new product teams.

• Build UX Capability: Help build up the UX function across our growing product teams -shaping tools, frameworks, onboarding materials, and team rituals.

• Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Work with diverse teams across Copenhagen, Mumbai, Germany, and other locations. Act as a bridge between UX, Product, Tech, and Business stakeholders.

• Engage with Innovation: Collaborate with ERGO’s Innovation Lab in Berlin on forward-looking initiatives, including AI design sprints, emerging tech evaluations, and digital experiments.

• Adapt and Lead Through Change: Help navigate the “storming phase” of our Nordic integration. We’re bringing together three countries and cultures into one organization -and we’re looking for someone energized by this opportunity.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in UX design or research with a strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered impact.

• Ability to move comfortably between hands-on UX work and strategic stakeholder engagement.

• Experience building or scaling UX capability within organizations.

• Prior experience leading or mentoring UX professionals.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.

• Comfort with ambiguity and rapid organizational change - you see opportunity where others see issues.

• Experience working in or with distributed teams (e.g., Europe and India).

• Strong collaboration skills and cultural awareness.

• Experience with design sprints/workshops, discovery phases, and UX advocacy in early product stages is a plus.

• Familiarity with insurance or financial services is a bonus but not required
