What You Will Do
Reporting to the Chief Architect, the incumbent is responsible for preparing preliminary and final architectural drawings for various projects using CADD and manual drafting methods. The incumbent liaises and co-ordinates with various sections of the Engineering Department to check and ensure the coherence and consistency of information on preliminary and final drawings for the architectural components of projects. Demonstrates behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment and helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies. Participates in the TTC Customer Service Ambassador Program.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
• Community College Technician Diploma in the field of Architectural Technology, or the equivalent, combined with several years of related experience.
• Preparing preliminary and final architectural drawings for various projects using CADD and manual drafting methods for the architectural components of projects.
• Visiting project sites for recording existing conditions, reviewing current drawings and specifications, and obtaining additional data as required for the completion of accurate drawings and specifications.
• Liaising with manufacturers, contractors, government agencies, etc., to ensure final designs are accurate, practical and meet all applicable code requirements.
• Coordinating design work with other Engineering Department sections and checking results.
• Reviewing shop drawings and materials submissions for conformity to TTC drawings and specifications, and for accuracy and completeness.
• Assisting staff with the preparation of technical specifications.
• Excellent knowledge of drafting and design principles, methods and practices for architectural contract drawings.
• Knowledge of the procedures and techniques for writing technical specifications.
• Good knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and other applicable codes and regulations, building construction practices and the properties of construction materials.
• Excellent working knowledge of CADD systems in general and specifically with the latest version of Bentley MicroStation.
• Excellent drafting, detail design, analytical and problem solving skills, good organizational, verbal communication and technical report writing skills.
