About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Property Lawyer - Legal Writing Opportunity to join our Practical Guidance team at LexisNexis. With strong practice experience as a Commercial property lawyer in Australia, you will have a solid understanding of the practical processes relevant to property law transactions and advice, including sales, acquisitions, and leasing (retail, commercial), as well as a strong working knowledge and direct experience in e-conveyancing, and a solid working knowledge or experience taxation matters involved with property transactions.

Reporting to the Content Manager, this is a full-time permanent role to be based in Australia, preferably within commuting distance of one of our State-based offices (Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane) but with the opportunity to work flexibly and/or remotely.
 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain high quality up-to-date practical legal content.

  • Prepare and maintain practically-focused content as well as practical resources for our popular Practical Guidance product that is Australia’s most established and trusted ‘how-to’ of legal practice.

  • Provide support to Relationship Managers to help build brand awareness and influence market share across clients and stakeholders.

  • Participate in or contribute to in-market activities (eg masterclasses, webinars, customer feedback sessions).


Requirements

  • 5+ years PQE

  • Australian qualified lawyer

  • Recent experience in an Australian mid to top tier law firm or in-house counsel role

  • A broad range of property law experience in transactional and advisory practice, including sales, acquisitions and leasing (retail, commercial); strong working knowledge and direct experience in e-conveyancing; and solid working knowledge or experience in taxation matters involved with property transactions

  • Excellent communication and plain-English writing skills

  • Aptitude for building and fostering relationships with a range of diverse clients and local and international stakeholders

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills.


Desirable

  • Experience in property development, owners corporation / strata / community title, and/or encumbrances (eg, restrictions on title, caveats, easements, restrictive covenants)

  • Working knowledge of mortgages and lender/borrower transactions.
