Job Purpose
The Director of Operations for M365 is responsible for leading the strategic direction, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of GSK's Microsoft 365 (M365) platform and associated services. This role ensures the M365 ecosystem effectively supports GSK's business objectives, enhances collaboration, and drives productivity across the organization.

The Director will oversee the governance, performance, and scalability of M365 services, ensuring they remain secure, compliant, and aligned with GSK's digital workplace strategy. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions, optimize user experience, and maintain a resilient operational framework that meets the evolving needs of a global enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Work in tandem with Product Capability and Engineering team to execute the strategic roadmap for M365 operational excellence in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, HR, and business units, to leverage the full potential of M365 tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Meeting Rooms).
  • Advocate and lead the adoption of best practices for digital collaboration and productivity across the organization.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the M365 environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.
  • Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades while minimizing disruption to business operations.
  • Lead monthly/quarterly M365 governance and performance reviews with various stakeholders.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals responsible for M365 support, administration, and development.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure the M365 environment adheres to GSK’s security policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Implement robust data protection measures, including encryption, access controls, and compliance monitoring.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to cybersecurity and data governance.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Develop and implement KPIs to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of M365 operations.
  • Produce regular reports and insights for senior leadership, highlighting opportunities for improvement and growth.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Stay current with emerging M365 features, tools, and technologies to drive innovation and enhance user experience.
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows, streamline processes, and improve overall efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 18+ years of experience in IT operations, with 5+ years managing enterprise-level M365 environments.
  • Strong expertise in Microsoft 365 applications, administration, and architecture.
  • Deep understanding of ITIL frameworks, operational excellence, and service delivery models.
  • Proven track record in leading teams and managing large-scale projects.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in highly regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps) would be added advantage.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
