Job Summary

The Lead Biostatistician, under minimal supervision performs advanced statistical analysis. Provides information to principal investigator(s), clients, management, and regulatory agencies. Prepares analysis plans and writes detailed specifications for analysis files, consistency
checks, tables, and figures; communicates with clients regarding statistical analysis issues. Interprets analyses and writes
statistical sections of study reports. Contributes to presentations and publications and writes statistical section of manuscripts
for peer-reviewed journals. Mentors and trains junior Biostatisticians. This incumbent does not perform any direct bench or clinical
(patient) research.

Denver Health invites applications for a Lead Biostatistician—a key scientific leadership position designed for an accomplished biostatistician with a passion for applied research, methodological rigor, and interdisciplinary collaboration. As part of our Learning Health System (LHS) Core within the Office of Research, you will play a central role in transforming data into actionable insights that directly inform clinical care, health policy, and quality improvement across one of the nation’s premier integrated safety-net health systems.

This role is ideal for a doctoral-level biostatistician seeking to apply advanced statistical expertise in real-world settings, partnering with clinicians, implementation scientists, and healthcare leaders to address pressing healthcare challenges. You’ll contribute to pragmatic research and embedded quality initiatives while shaping the infrastructure that enables continuous learning and evidence-based decision-making throughout the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising investigators on study design, data analysis, and interpretation
  • Supporting grant development, submissions, and funded project implementation
  • Collaborating across clinical and administrative departments to ensure high-impact research
  • Mentoring junior analysts and contributing to capacity building in biostatistics

Essential Functions:

  • Data Analysis and Reporting
    Performs quantitative data analysis according to statistical analysis plans/protocols using SAS and/or R statistical packages. Compiles analysis ready datasets from multiple sources of raw data. Creates basic, intermediate, and advanced tables, figures, and listings reports summarizing data and analyses. Performs advanced statistical summary reports and analyses. (40%)
  • Data Integrity
    Writes statistical analysis plans. Develops error checking programs to ensure data and data analysis is reproducible, reliable, and valid. (30%)
  • Publications
    Contributes to scientific publications; writes statistical section of manuscripts/results.
    Authors abstracts, posters, and presentations for scientific meetings. (20%)
  • Mentors and trains junior staff, including daily oversight and monitoring workload (10%)


Education:

  • Master's Degree Biostatistics or Statistics required. Required


Work Experience:

  • 4-6 years Experience in Biostatistics/Statistics required. Required


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Proficiency in using SAS, SPSS, STATA, R or other statistical program and Microsoft Office.
    • Proficiency in using Clarity, Caboodle, Sequel.
    • Ability to programmatically restructure databases to facilitate analyses.
    • Ability to work with others as a team member.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to summarize detailed information in an organized, concise manner.
    • Knowledgeable with a variety of field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
