Director of Pediatric Services

JOB SUMMARY: 

This management position directs the clinical, quality, financial, and personnel operations of three departments in the pediatric service line: Pediatrics, PICU and Pediatric ED.   Must be able to demonstrate solid financial competency, service –oriented philosophy, personnel management, willingness to implement best practice standards for patient care, strong organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and process improvement strategies. Accountable for the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient care for the specific patient care unit (s) on a 24-hour basis. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Three (3) years clinical experience with specific training and experience in pediatric critical care required plus two (2) years of progressive management experience preferred. 

• BSN required, Masters preferred.

• Current LA RN licensure. 

• Current BLS required. Certifications may be through any International Liaison Committee on resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to:  Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association and American Red Cross.  The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off. 

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must possess good physical health.  Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.  Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.  Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort required:        
Constant (67%-100%) - seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing
Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching
