Location:

General Description of the Job Class

 

Support patient accounting process through month-end close, integration and other projects, analysis preparation, and account reconciliation. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

 

  • Monitor and reconcile subledger (EPIC) to GL at month-end for each DUHS entity.  Book additional accruals/adjustments needed as well as any activity related to non-EPIC based revenue classes for the month.
  • Liaise with entity finance teams to maintain the Kodiak tool (which uses EPIC data to calculate the revenue reserve each month).
  • Assist the director in onboarding newly acquired companies, specifically working through manual posting of revenue/reserve until they can be brought into EPIC.  Help perform testing for any changes to EPIC/GL mapping or integration into EPIC/GL. 
  • Prepare revenue/cash to net analyses to be reviewed by the director and used by the entity CFOs and system CFO.
  • Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders as necessary.  Specifically, participate in internal meetings with the billing and coding teams to assist in appropriately mapping new EPIC codes to the GL. 
  • After month-end, reconcile all balance sheet GL's for each entity that fall under the responsibility of the revenue accounting team.  Investigate any variances/issues.
  • Coordinate and communicate well with various departments throughout DUHS and Duke University in preparation and compilation of above noted deliverables and requests.  Help identify and drive process improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain documentation related to work performed.

 

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education

Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA is desirable. MSA and CPA is highly preferred.

 

Experience

Work requires a minimum of six years of experience in financial accounting, including knowledge of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and FASB standards.
