Job description

The Staff Accountant will assist in the monthly compilation of financial statements, analysis, supporting working papers. This position supports daily accounting operations.

Location: 1660 Duke St, Alexandria, VA 22314

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM  (3 days onsite, 2 days work from home)

Salary: $54,000-$81,000 (Salary is negotiable based on years of experience)

Essentials:  

  • General Ledger Management.
  • Assist in month end close process, collaborating with team members to ensure financial records are current and deadlines are consistently met.
  • Record and Produce monthly statements activity for various entities.
  • Record and ensure accuracy of intercompany ledgers.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations on a weekly/or monthly basis to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintaining Financial Records.
  • Preparing and entering Journal entries into accounting system, verifying supporting documentation for review and approval.
  • Ensure the compliance of GAAP.
  • Ensure company policy is being adhered to.
  • Verifying data prior to entry in ERP system.
  • Other projects as assigned by Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager or Controller

Support team leadership in managing the following accounting/finance functions:

  • Assist with real estate closing & post-closing processes.
  • Solve problems and respond to accounting issues as they arise.
  • Assist with analyzing and identifying areas for improvement to increase efficiency and/or improve internal controls.
  • Provide assistance during two (2) audit seasons (6/30 and 12/31).
  • Provide supporting documentation as requested.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance.
  • At least two (2) years’ work experience in accounting field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Affordable housing, HUD and LIHTC experience is a plus.
