Overview

The US Chief Data Officer is accountable for enabling expert management and use of data assets across the US through establishing and enforcing the group’s data principles, policies, frameworks and standards, as well as establishing and monitoring execution of a US-wide data strategy and roadmap in line with the group framework. As US Chief Data Officer, the mission is to enable the organization to achieve Bank and US Data strategy objectives.

What You’ll Do

  • Data Strategy – drive US Data Strategy in line with the global strategy and oversee its execution. Actively contributes to setting and driving the Group’s Data Strategy in collaboration with the Group Chief Data Officer, Enterprise Data Management program (EDM) and the Divisional Data Officers (DDOs)
  • Regulatory and Audit Engagement - ensure consistent face-off to our regulators and auditors for data management topics, including local data office coverage to address local business and regulatory data priorities.
  • Data Risks & Controls – complies with group’s policies and applies the groups standards and governance frameworks to ensure effective management of data-related risks following the group’s data strategy and frameworks.
  • EDM Program - supports bank-wide transparency and oversight of cross-divisional data plans and execution to drive data quality improvement outcomes
  • Defines and ensures effective implementation of relevant strategies within defined Risk Appetite and Tolerance, ensuring that the US’s strategy is in line with DB’s Group risk strategy and monitors deliverables and performance targets
  • Manages risks and oversees controls in respect of risk types which fall within the remit of the Unit by way of implementing and maintaining an adequate and effective risk management, including identification, assessment and management (incl. control, monitoring and reporting) of risks

  • Develops a senior leadership pipeline ensuring a robust succession plan is in place for all critical roles
  • Sets clear direction for the team in line with overall business strategy balancing both global and local priorities
  • Actively supports the business strategy, plans and values, contributing to the achievement of a high performing culture

Skills You’ll Need

  • Experienced Chief Data Officer and change leader with a track record of overseeing and executing data and regulatory remediation programs.
  • Considerable experience of representing a regulated entity, the size scope and nature of DB, to internal and external senior stakeholders including regulators and government agencies.
  • Exceptionally strong stakeholder management skills
  • Experience of designing, implementing and evaluating data applications and operations. Proven ability to work with and develop further a diverse data landscape to optimize both cost and delivery of the technology at DB.
  • Working knowledge of relevant processes & systems, broader application and infrastructure environments and standards required by regulators to protect DB and our clients. Strong data management experience and knowledge of global and local trends and best practices.
  • Solid experience of having led a relevant business unit of similar size and complexity, including significant people leadership across multiple locations. Familiarity and experience dealing with matrix reporting relationships across several business lines and jurisdictions

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $300,000 to $400,000.  Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.  Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
