Cloud & Database Operations Engineer

About the Role:

 

VerTALENTS is looking for a Cloud & Database Operations Engineer with a passion for automation, performance, and reliability. In this role, you'll be at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, database management, and DevOps innovation—supporting our mission-critical systems in AWS and beyond.

 

Responsabilities:

 

    • Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure to support scalable applications and databases.

    • Administer and optimize SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.

    • Oversee AWS database services including RDS, Aurora, Redshift, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch.

    • Execute on-prem to AWS database migrations and implement cloud-native database strategies.

    • Perform system administration across Windows and Linux, including patching, hardening, and optimization.

    • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and database automation.

    • Automate provisioning and configuration using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Python, PowerShell, and Bash.

    • Apply cloud security best practices, ensuring encryption, IAM controls, network security, and compliance.

    • Proactively monitor system/database health, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and perform root cause analysis.

    • Establish and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies for production environments.

    • Collaborate across engineering, operations, and security teams to drive operational excellence.

    • Support production deployments with minimal downtime and high efficiency.

 

What You Bring:

 

    • Solid hands-on experience managing AWS infrastructure (EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, etc.).

    • Expert knowledge in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

    • Familiarity with AWS database platforms including RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and serverless solutions.

    • Experience with database migrations, replication, clustering, and HA strategies.

    • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD workflows, and automation pipelines.

    • Proficient in scripting and infrastructure as code (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, Ansible).

    • Competence in system administration across Windows and Linux platforms.

    • Working knowledge of cloud security principles, IAM policies, and encryption methods.

    • Experience in live production environments and supporting real-time deployments.

    • Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, ELK, or Prometheus.

 

Nice to Have Certifications:

 

    •  AWS Certifications: Solutions Architect, Database Specialty, or DevOps Engineer.

    • Experience managing containers with Docker and Kubernetes.

    • Exposure to hybrid cloud (on-prem + AWS) environments.

    • Understanding of SRE methodologies for reliability and resilience.

    • Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to systems and performance optimization.
