Job Description:

The Principal, Strategic Programs & Enablement is a critical role directly reporting to the Chief Technology Officer. This individual is responsible for driving strategic clarity, executional rigor, and operational excellence across a high-performing technology team. Partnering closely with the CTO and the Engineering Leadership Team, this role is instrumental in translating organizational vision into actionable strategies, ensuring seamless execution, and fostering a culture of accountability, focus, and continuous improvement.

This Principal will lead pivotal cross-functional planning initiatives, establish robust strategic tracking mechanisms, optimize leadership routines, and drive the execution of key programs essential to the Engineering segment's effectiveness and the broader company's success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Goal Alignment:

    • Oversee and continually refine the annual and quarterly strategic planning and goal-setting processes for the entire Engineering organization.
    • Collaborate with Engineering Leadership to define, document, and communicate strategic pillars, segment-level goals, and quarterly priorities, ensuring clarity, focus, and organizational consistency.
    • Develop and manage processes for transparent reporting on goal progress and segment-level initiatives, providing data-driven insights and actionable recommendations for course correction.
  • Performance Management & Balanced Scorecard:

    • Design, implement, and own a comprehensive Balanced Scorecard framework that translates strategic vision into measurable operational goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Facilitate regular, outcome-oriented performance reviews with Engineering leadership to track progress, calibrate priorities, and adapt strategies based on performance outcomes and evolving business needs.
    • Champion segment-wide transparency through structured reporting, dashboards, and actionable insights to drive informed decision-making.
  • Operational Cadence & Effectiveness:

    • Define, optimize, and manage the Engineering segment's operational cadence and "ways of working," ensuring effective routines, tools, and workflows are consistently applied.
    • Lead and continuously improve critical leadership processes, including pipeline reviews, goal boards, weekly tactical agendas, and executive decision-making forums.
    • Drive alignment and efficiency by developing well-structured meeting content, outcome-oriented agendas, and rigorous follow-through mechanisms.
  • Solution Playbook Development & Integration:

    • Partner with Product and Solution leaders to coordinate the development and implementation of Solution Playbooks, fostering cross-functional alignment from concept to delivery.
    • Ensure that all roadmap priorities are seamlessly embedded into the strategic planning processes and the segment's operating cadence.
    • Promote segment-wide consistency, stakeholder engagement, and readiness for solution delivery.
  • High-Impact Program Leadership:

    • Serve as the lead program manager for select, high-impact Engineering initiatives, ranging from product innovation and strategic client delivery to internal organizational transformations.
    • Provide expert structure, governance, and hands-on leadership to ensure these critical initiatives are executed on time, within scope, and deliver measurable impact.
    • Proactively adjust program plans, resource allocation, and timelines in response to evolving organizational priorities and market dynamics.
  • CTO & Leadership Enablement:

    • Act as a trusted strategic partner to the CTO, providing proactive insight, strategic input, and ensuring diligent follow-through on top-level initiatives and communications.
    • Support the CTO and leadership team in crafting compelling meeting agendas, facilitating key decisions, and ensuring clear post-meeting actions and accountability.
    • Play a pivotal role in driving cultural and operational maturity, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment across the organization in partnership with the Human Resource and Engineering Leadership Teams.

Job Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related technical field is required.

  • Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MS in a technical discipline) is strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic planning, technical program management, operations leadership, or a Chief of Staff-type role, with a strong preference for experience supporting Engineering or Product organizations.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives within large, matrixed environments.

  • Deep understanding and proven familiarity with technology organizations, software development lifecycles, and the dynamics of engineering, product, and solution development.

  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and implementing strategic frameworks (e.g., OKRs, Balanced Scorecards, Agile methodologies).

Skills:

  •  Exceptional strategic and systems thinking capabilities, with the ability to translate ambiguous concepts into concrete, executable plans.

  • Superior stakeholder management, interpersonal, and executive communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to influence and persuade at all levels of the organization.

  • Highly skilled in leveraging planning, productivity, and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).

  • Proactive problem-solver with a strong bias for action and a commitment to continuous improvement.
