Location: Stateside Remote, (Occasional Travel to Adelphi)
University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks a Fraud Prevention Specialist in the Office of Compliance and Fraud Prevention. Reporting to the Director, the specialist is responsible for reviewing various fraud prevention reports, flagging suspicious student records, and taking all necessary steps to mitigate fraud and information security risk. The specialist will be responsible for responding to students' and other individuals’ correspondence related to identity verification.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Review system-generated reports and take appropriate action.
Contact students by phone, mail, and email to verify information and resolve account matters.
Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation of system-generated reports and communicate with internal stakeholders as appropriate.
Ensure documentation related to investigations is maintained in the student information system.
Escalate issues to management as appropriate for advanced investigation and analysis.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., criminal justice, risk management, accounting)
At least one year of experience in fraud investigation, forensic accounting, or auditing
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively and be able to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience in Federal Title IV Financial Aid.
Experience with CLEAR investigation software and/or other fraud detection and identity verification software.

Tuition Remission: CII employees are eligible immediately for Tuition Remission at UMGC or at University of Maryland College Park. Spouses and dependent children are eligible for undergraduate tuition remission after two years of service. NOTE: For part-time employees (at least 50 percent of the time), tuition remission benefits are prorated.
