Job Title: Director of Circular Economy - Grease & Oil SME

Location: Remote/Hybrid - USA

Reports to: Vice President of Circular Economy Solutions

Department Name: Circular Solutions

Job Type: Full Time, Exempt

 

Position Summary

The Director of Circular Economy – Grease & Oil SME is responsible for overseeing the development of circular economy programs for Rubicon customers. Reporting to the Vice President of Circular Economy Solutions, you will play a crucial role in managing strategic relationships with key vendor partners across North America for services related to G&O services. You will collaborate with the Circular Economy Solutions team to provide technical advisory services. Your goal will be to ensure circular economy solutions support Rubicon’s Mission to End Waste.

 

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Develop creative solutions for cost effective management and diversion of client’s materials.
  • Assist Customer Account Teams with meeting needs to ensure customer and supplier satisfaction. Includes training and education and tool development.
  • Manage strategic relationships with key vendor partners across North America for services related to G&O service, maintenance, repairs, and equipment.
  • Analyze client’s current waste and recycling programs, develop cost/benefit analyses to lower cost and improve resource recovery effectiveness.
  • Maintain a foundation of subject matter expertise and experience; seek continuing education opportunities; be willing to invent, conceptualize new ideas and innovations; share knowledge; and be a decision-maker; Provide guidance, training and advisory services to internal staff, customers, and leadership as needed.
  • Project management and other management functions; Work with internal staff to ensure that facts, details and content are correct so that projects, programs and other deliverables meet or exceed the needs of the stakeholders, regulations, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Achieve financial and performance goals and objectives.
  • Manage the requests the CES Team receives to meet client expectations; Research, identify, and manage specialized service providers needed for selected material types and to fulfill specialized service roles; Visit client sites to develop and/or evaluate the effectiveness of SMM programs.
  • Support business development activities; Be thought-provoking innovator; lead and promote cutting-edge opportunities.
  • Communicate frequently with internal/external customers and suppliers.
  • Assist in providing content to the Marketing/Communications and Sustainability Teams.
  • Participate in company and departmental meetings.
  • Ability to travel and/or work onsite as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience
  • 2 or more years of experience in the used cooking oil, grease trap, and/or rendering fields.
  • Strong knowledge of waste and recycling transportation and processing negotiation and protocol.
  • Experience managing people.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of project management.
  • A proactive, can-do attitude with a willingness to take ownership of tasks and drive them to completion.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Discretion and trustworthiness in handling sensitive information and supporting high-level strategic initiatives.
  • Travel and/or onsite work will be on an as needed basis.
