Job description

Job Summary:

As a Collections Specialist II, you will contact customers and collect outstanding payments on inactive SCANA accounts. You will firmly press for payment arrears resolution while maintaining a trustful relationship with the customer by educating them on their product, service value and account options.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor assigned accounts to prioritize collections action.
  • Identify and contact customers to address overdue payments.
  • Approach customer interactions with a consultative mindset and use effective negotiation and problem solving to bring customer accounts current.
  • Build rapport and provide education with customers to encourage timely payments going forward.
  • Resolve customer escalations/disputes through active listening and product education.
  • Process payments while maintaining customer privacy and adhering to policies around customer information security.
  • Collaborate with internal business partners to research account or billing discrepancies as necessary.
  • Assign accounts to the appropriate team(s) to resolve billing and customer issues.
  • Update account status records and collection efforts.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • 2 years’ experience in self-driven consumer collections.
  • Knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques (e.g., skip tracing).
  • Familiarity with laws related to debt collection (e.g., FDCPA).
  • Excellent customer service and conversational skills.
  • Skilled in negotiation and problem-solving.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and databases.
  • Comfortable working with targets.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize daily responsibilities.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience in a high-volume customer facing environment.

Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis. Unfortunately, a current or future need for sponsorship is not supported or available for this position.

Salary Range:

$39,400.00 - $59,100.00

*This range reflects base pay only. Incentive earnings, like commissions or bonuses, are not included.

This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance, as well as team or individual incentives.
