Your opportunity

Mission Australia Housing is seeking a dedicated Compliance & Reporting Officer to help safeguard our licence to operate and enable the sustainable growth of our community housing services nationwide.

Reporting to the Business Performance Manager, you’ll play a key role in coordinating regulatory and contract compliance reporting across multiple jurisdictions. From liaising with internal teams and external partners to managing reporting calendars, preparing submissions, and streamlining processes, your work will directly support our accountability to housing regulators, funders, and peak bodies.

You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, juggling multiple deadlines while ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timeliness in our reporting. This is a unique opportunity to build deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks and play a vital part in ensuring that safe, secure, and affordable housing remains accessible to those who need it most.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support the preparation and submission of annual regulatory compliance returns for each jurisdiction that Mission Australia Housing operates in, including for: the National Regulatory System for Community Housing, and other applicable state housing regulatory frameworks.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to collect required data and documentation including from Housing Operations - tenancy, asset management, and community development; Property Development; Finance; Legal, Governance & Risk/Incident teams; and the Housing Growth team.
  • Support the provision of mandatory notifications to Housing Registrars and funders.
  • Coordinate major / multi-disciplinary reports that require input from all functions within the housing group.
  • Manage a reporting calendar which includes key dates and report owners and contributors.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly reminders to internal stakeholders as to upcoming reports that are due to external stakeholders.
  • Look for opportunities to streamline and improve compliance reporting processes.
  • Coordinate survey responses as required with external stakeholders including housing Registrars and industry peak bodies.

Requirements for success

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications i.e. Business or Legal related qualifications are desirable.
  • Experience working within a compliance function within a highly regulated sector, for example, Community Housing, Disability services, or other Social Services.
  • Experience working with large volumes of complex documentation and data.
  • Effective listening, communication engagement skills including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiar with legislation based regulatory systems ideally within Community Housing or Social Services sectors e.g. National Regulatory System for Community Housing (NRSCH).
  • High level computer literacy including the ability to use Microsoft Office products and the ability to use online reporting portals such as Salesforce.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
