The Work:

As an Operational Technology (OT) Technical Writer / Drafter, you will report to the Security and Resilience (SaR) Line of Business Manager. In this role you will serve as part of an integrated team of engineering and cybersecurity experts to support Chinook’s growth in Industrial Controls System (ICS) Cybersecurity. You will support field teams conducting cybersecurity inventories and risk assessments by gathering information from the subject matter experts and developing project deliverables with a focus on control system cybersecurity drawing development and technical reports.

This position is REMOTE, but you must be able to travel to client sites up to 25% of the time. The majority of our clients are in the Eastern Time Zone of the United States, especially in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support data collection in the field (as needed), data analysis, report writing, and drawing development.
  • Gather information from the subject matter experts, review and ensure completeness of data collected.
  • Convert control system inventory spreadsheets into riser diagrams and data flow diagrams.
  • Convert control system drawings into technical system descriptions.
  • Conduct research and analyze control system devices for known cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
  • Support the development of scopes of work.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations to communicate assessment results.
  • Work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem‐solving environment.
  • Attend company meetings, training seminars, and functions.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation by independently managing tasks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals while maintaining organized workflows and documentation.
  • Collaborate with OT specialists, analysts, and engineers to collect and understand technical details.
  • Translate technical information into understandable graphical and written content
  • Produce manuals, guides, technical reports, and other technical documentation
  • Ensure the accuracy, clarity, completeness, and consistency of technical documents
  • Follow established documentation guidelines and maintaining consistency in drawing, writing style, and formatting
  • Disseminate information both in writing and verbally, explaining complex technical information clearly to engineers, contractors, and facility/owner staff across all communication platforms.
  • Ensure continued excellence at Chinook.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in an Engineering Discipline, and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be proficient with the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Requires experience with MS Visio/CAD/BIM or related software.
  • Requires familiarity with Industrial Control Systems (ICS) and how they operate.

Citizenship/Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret clearance due to our customer requirements and the nature of the work that we do.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Active Secret or higher Security Clearance.
  • IAT Level II Certification is Required (Security+, etc.).

Physical Considerations:

  • Must be able to walk construction sites with uneven surfaces, carry up to 25 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, and work both indoors and outdoors in severe weather conditions, in confined spaces, and in dust generating environments.
  • Must be able to maintain spatial awareness and comply with safety standards while working near mechanical and electrical building equipment and systems.
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
