About the role

As a senior back-end engineer at Amiqus, you’ll be instrumental in shaping the backbone of our digital solutions, with a specific focus on creating a scalable and efficient back-end architecture that enhances user experiences.

Key responsibilities

In addition, some of the key responsibilities will include:

  • Forge robust and modern back-end infrastructures that prioritise performance and scalability.

  • Develop testable, performant and high-quality software using Agile methodologies.

  • Stay passionate about software development and leverage its vast potential to add value to our customers.

  • Utilise a pragmatic approach to problem-solving and crafting solutions that are both innovative and practical.

  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues to drive projects forward.

About you

Desirable
  • 5+ years in developing and maintaining web applications.

  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and a good understanding of SOLID/DRY principles.

  • Extensive commercial experience in PHP MVC frameworks, preferably Laravel.

  • Good knowledge of relational databases, specifically MySQL.

  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).

  • Working knowledge of Git version control.

  • Practical knowledge of Docker.

  • A meticulous approach to work; you believe that quality is paramount.

  • Proven background in Agile development processes.

  • Experience working remotely or as part of a geographically dispersed team.


Nice to have
  • Previous experience with ElasticSearch/OpenSearch.

  • Good understanding of REST API architecture and implementation. Experience with OpenAPI specification and APIs designs for mobile applications is highly advantageous.

  • An initial chat about the role with our People Experience Manager 

  • A non-technical interview with the Team Manager and one other manager

  • A technical interview with the Team Manager and a senior engineer
